Coming from a background of political science I was looking to round up my knowledge with insights from international finance and economics and the courses of the MGPE programme have exactly done this so far.
The pro-found East Asian nature of the programme and city has been the icing on top of it all to me. An experience that I surely won’t forget!
Throughout my bachelor studies, I was already very interested in the interplay of politics and economics. Furthermore, a vacation trip awakened my curiosity and fascination for China. In my search for a one-year, English-language Master's program that links these topics, the interdisciplinary program in Global Political Economy at CUHK stood out. It was a big step for me to fly to the other end of the world while my fellow classmates continued their studies in Germany or Western Europe. After finishing my studies, I can confidently say that it was the best decision of my life to continue my studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Not only have I learned about political economy from top-class professors and lived in one of the most exciting cities in the world, but perhaps more importantly, I have learned a lot about the culture of my classmates and made new friends on another continent. Every international student who is faced with the difficult decision of whether to go to Hong Kong for their masters, I can only say: dare to go, you won't regret it!
