As part of my undergraduate major is Chinese Business, I have been interested in China especially after one-year exchange in Nankai University. I wanted to study more about the biggest trading partner of Korea in both Asian and global contexts. When I looked for a good master program in relevant field, I preferred studying in an international city where information is freely accessed and quality of education is highly regarded. I found Hong Kong the most suitable place as it is closest city of China (or most international city IN China) and where diversity is much respected.
For someone who wants to work for international organization, MGPE is the perfect choice. In the course of my stay in Hong Kong, I was able to participate in many international activities. Unforgettable ones include the seminars of Condoleezza Rice and of George Soros. Between two semesters, I got an opportunity to present my paper in front of all professors and students. There was a fruitful discussion and my presentation skill was further developed as well. Moreover, the well-structured library system in CUHK, which I recommended to my undergraduate school, helped me a lot in exploring materials easily for my assignments.
Studying in MGPE brought me not only great time in study and participation in international activities but also a special opportunity for internship. Thanks to a variety of experience in MGPE as well as my previous background, I luckily got a 6-month internship offer in UNDP China. Many things happened to me was definitely what I couldn’t expect when I left for Hong Kong to study. I would say Hong Kong is the best place to learn in Asia, as long as one can best utilize it. My choice of MGPE was a great turning point in my life. I appreciate all my classmates who always actively led discussions and professors who brought me great insight to see the world.
To say the least, the MGPE programme at CUHK is an interesting experience. From the variety of courses offered, you are able to choose those that are most appealing to you. Your peers will come from various backgrounds, ages, and professions. Professors are understanding and well acquainted with their respective subjects. During your studies you will also run into helpful alumni. The campus is unique and unlike any other in Hong Kong. Even as a full time student, if you plan accordingly, you will have sufficient time to fully enjoy Hong Kong and your experience here.
