1. What is the English Language Proficiency Requirement?

All students should fulfill the English Language Proficiency Requirement prescribed below before they are admitted:

  • Obtain a pass grade in English in one of the following examinations:
    • Hong Kong Advanced Level Exam (including AS Level);
    • Hong Kong Higher Level Exam; 
    • CUHK Matriculation Exam; 
    • General Certificate of Educational Exam (GCE) Advanced Level (A-Level)/Advanced-Subsidiary Level (AS-Level); or
  • Achieve Level 4 or above in the English Language subject of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination; or
  • Obtain a degree from a university in Hong Kong or a degree programme of which the medium of instruction was English; or
  • Achieve scores in the following English Language tests# as indicated:
    • TOEFL: 550 (Paper-based): /79 (Internet-based)
    • IELTS (Academic): (Band 6.5); 
    • GMAT: Band 21 (Verbal)
  • Have a recognized professional qualification awarded in Hong Kong or an English-speaking country. 

#Please note that TOEFL iBT Home Edition, IELTS Indicator, GRE Test and CET6 Score are currently not accepted for fulfilling the English Language Requirements for Admission. You may refer to the website of Graduate School for the latest updates.

2. Is there any written test?

No.

3. Is there any selection interview?

Interview may be arranged for short-listed applicants, who will be informed individually.

4. When will the admission results be announced? Will each individual applicant be informed of the result in mail, e-mail or phone call?

Applicants can login the "Online System for Applications for Admission to Postgraduate Programmes" to check their application results from time to time. Admitted applicants will be notified of the update of application status by Graduate School as soon as the selection process is completed. However, there may be several rounds of selection, the process may span over several months.

5. Is there any scholarship? How do I apply?

Entrance scholarship will be offered to qualified students on a competitive basis. No application is required. The awarded students will be notified individually.

6. May the deposit be refunded to me or transferred to another applicant?

According to University Policy, deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

7. Do I need to mail hard copy of the supporting documents to the Graduate School or the Programme Office?

Applicants only need to upload scanned copy of the required supporting documents which are already available to the Online Application System at the application stage. Hard copy of the required supporting documents are only needed to be mailed to the Programme Office when the applicant has received an admission offer.

8. My university issues e-transcript only. Are e-transcripts acceptable for application and/or fulfilment admission offer conditions?

Official e-transcripts issued and sent directly from the university registry (or equivalent university transcript office) to our Programme are acceptable. Please note the e-transcripts issued and sent from your Faculty/School/Department/Programme are not acceptable.    

9. Can I amend the information on the online application form?

Applicants can amend the information via the online application system. If you would like to provide us with the updated transcript or other supporting documents, please upload the scanned official copy to the online application system.
